HODs Roles and Responsibilities:
Head of Department (HoD) is selected among the subject committee members. In case the group is unable to nominate the HoD, the SMT will assist in appointing the HoD for the concerned subject group. The roles of the HoDs are crucial for the promotion and fulfillment of the common objective of “academic excellence” in their specific subject departments.
- Responsible and accountable for the promotion and fulfillment of academic excellence in the subject groups/departments.
- Ensure that the subject teachers make plans- annual, unit, weekly and daily and get duly checked by HoDs regularly.
- Monitor proper syllabus coverage.
- Ensure that remedial teaching steps are taken to support the needy learners.
- Coordinate and chair the SBIP/ other staff development activities like 3T for the subject group as per the plan.
- Maintain records of Subject Based PD for submission to SLT.
- Ensure that teachers maintain proper CA records as per BCSEA and school policy guidelines.
- Ensure proper planning and execution of Test setting and moderation, and evaluation of answer scripts.
- Ensure that each teacher has all relevant records of his/her performance in any activity (ies) of the year for reference during the Performance Rating phase of the year.
- Conduct classroom observation for respective department members.
